Beard and Face Oil
I have been thinking of making a beard oil for a while now & have a good number of recipes which I have taken the best bits from to come up with my own version.
I really wanted something that would be great to use on the skin as I have long been aware that face oils are a fantastic product, very natural and not at all oily. They can be tailored to suit all specific skin types & very specific skin requirements.
My first requirement was for a light carrier oil that would be well absorbed so could be used day &n night, I also wanted something that would condition the beard & help its growth & moisturize the skin below it. I also wanted something that had a great smell, not too perfumed but sharp & woody which is why I choose Cedarwood & Grapefruit.
So after making various versions I narrowed it down to the following:
Jojoba oil: A very versatile oil which is extremely rich and nourishing. It is ideal for really dry skin or adding to other oils to produce an extra moisturising effect Suitable for all skin types, especially blemished and oily skin as it unblocks pores.
Grapeseed oil: light and easily absorbed into the skin, a perfect carrier when mixed with Jojoba.
Organic Argan Oil: Has a high Vitamin E content and is rich in Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids which are crucial to the skin’s health. Argan oil is a moisturising and nourishing oil and has been used in Morocco for many years as a treatment for the skin, hair and nails. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is good for overheated and irritated skin. Said to be excellent for wrinkles, scarring, stretch marks and premature aging of the skin.
Cedarwood oil is an uplifting and reviving tonic. It is good for everyday stresses and strains and is also known as an aphrodisiac. Cedarwood Atlas is used by many aftershave manufacturers and is also good as an insect repellent !
Rosemary Verbenone Oil: Ideal for use on the skin and hair. It can help to stimulate hair growth and gives a shine to the hair. It is also known for its regenerative properties to the skin.
Grapefruit oil: Stimulating, revitalizing and cleansing. It is beneficial for oily and problem skin.
The oils are very expensive to buy, even a few ml can cost pounds so they are expensive to make however the do go a very long way so a 30ml bottle would last for months.
Anyway my very first Fredricssons Beard & Face oil is available to buy in a lovely blue glass bottle with dropper top so you can drop a small amount onto your fingers.
